Hyun Bin And Son Ye Jin’s Romantic Filming Location in Switzerland Now Charges Tourists Who Want To Visit
From the end of 2019 to 2020, tvN’s popular K-Drama Crash Landing on You had everyone’s hearts fluttering as they watched actors Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin fall in love on-screen—and off-screen.
Crash Landing on You is about a successful heiress and businesswoman named Yoon Se Ri (played by Son Ye Jin) who accidentally crash-lands into North Korea and meets the army captain, Ri Jeong Hyeok (played by Hyun Bin). The two fall in love despite the dispute between their respective countries.
The K-Drama was filmed in multiple locations in Switzerland, showing the beauty of the country. One of the filming locations was the Sigriswil Bridge, where Ri Jeong Hyeok unknowingly saves Yoon Se Ri’s life for the first time.
They also filmed the opening scene, where the two walked past each other in Lindenhof, Zurich.
The last scene of the last episode was also filmed in Switzerland—more specifically, Lake Lungern, a lake by the shore of the town of Lungern known for its views of the valley that looks like a scene out of a fairy tale.
One of the most famous filming locations for Crash Landing on You that fans enjoy visiting is Lake Brienz in a tiny village named Iseltwald. This was where Ri Jeong Hyeok played the piano without knowing he was saving Yoon Se Ri, who heard him from afar.
The lake is known for its wooden landing dock that overlooks the beautiful turquoise-blue water and the Alps that sit as the backdrop.
Iseltwald has a population of 400, but many tourists started to visit Lake Brienz after the popularity of Crash Landing on You. According to Switzerland’s local media report, about 400,000 people visited the site last year. However, villagers experienced inconveniences due to noise, garbage, and traffic congestion caused by the many tourists.
Therefore, Iseltwald introduced a new reservation system in the parking lot so that only buses that make reservations ahead of time could pass. In addition, the village installed a ticket gate by the pier of the lake so that tourists who want to visit must pay a toll fee of 5 Swiss francs, which is about ₩7,200 KRW (about $5.59 USD).
Meanwhile, Crash Landing on You had a record of the highest viewer rating of 21.7% (according to Nielson Korea) and set a record for tvN K-drama ratings.
The show received more love when fans learned that Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin developed from being an on-screen couple to a real couple. The two tied the knot last year and gave birth to a son later that year.
