Popular Actor Sentenced To Jail For Sexual Relations With 15-Year-Old

He admitted to the crime.

Actor Ian Fang has been sentenced to 40 months in prison after pleading guilty to multiple sexual offences involving a 15-year-old girl. The 35-year-old, was convicted of three counts of sexual penetration of a minor under 16, with three additional similar charges, along with one count each of obstructing justice and stalking, taken into consideration during sentencing.

The offences occurred in 2024 when Fang was 34 years old. He met the victim at an entertainment event in May of that year, and the two exchanged contact information, maintaining near-daily communication. Fang was working as an acting teacher at a modelling school for children aged four to 14 at the time. Court documents revealed that Fang engaged in unprotected sexual activities with the minor on multiple occasions in June 2024, fully aware of her age. The incidents took place at both a hotel and Fang’s home, often under circumstances where the victim was temporarily alone. In one instance, Fang visited the victim at midnight while she was staying in a hospital room for flu treatment, after confirming she was unaccompanied.

The girl’s mother discovered the inappropriate relationship and alerted the authorities. Fang was arrested on August 4 and released on bail the following day. During investigations, it was also revealed that Fang instructed the girl to keep their relationship a secret. Prosecutors applied to lift the gag order on Fang’s identity after the victim expressed in a statement that she felt emotionally stronger and was willing to accept the risks of potential identification. The defence objected, citing concerns over her safety and privacy, but the court ultimately allowed Fang’s name to be released while keeping the victim’s identity protected.

District Judge Eddy Tham emphasized the importance of balancing transparency in the justice system with the protection of victims. Fang, originally from Shanghai and now a Singapore permanent resident, was a full-time actor with Mediacorp for 12 years before leaving in 2023. Fang is scheduled to begin serving his sentence on June 16, 2025.
