On May 10, Abby Trinidad, a former founding member of MNL48, confirmed that she would be leaving the P-Pop group. MNL48 is a Filipino idol girl group based in Manila, Philippines, and formed in 2018 as the fourth international sister group of Japan’s AKB48. Abby was appointed to a major leadership position for the group, MNL48’s General Manager.

Now, MNL48 has confirmed fans’ worst fears; they’re disbanding. On May 22, P.O.S Inc. released an official statement that has been reposted by members of the group on X (formerly Twitter). After taking the “sustainability of the management structure” for the group under consideration, among other things, it was decided that MNL48’s time must come to an end.

Although fans are saddened by the news, they are expressing their fondness for the group and support for the members, who they hope will re-debut under a new agency.
