Fans Upset Over Interviewer Asking Jae About Relationship With Current DAY6 Members
In early 2022, DAY6 fans went through a lot of dismay and confusion as Jae and JYP Entertainment released seemingly conflicting announcements about the idol’s future with the group. Of course, we know now that Jae would end up leaving the group and the label to pursue his own career as a soloist, and while many were sad to see him leave the group, others were happy for him since it came after a period of what seemed to be high stress and frustration for Jae with JYP.
Since moving to Los Angeles and following his own path in his musical and professional career, some fans have wondered whether his departure from DAY6 led to, or was even in part caused by, a falling out between Jae and the other current members of the group. Since Jae seemed eager to move on with his life, though, most fans were respectful of his position and didn’t try and demand answers from him about his relationship with his former bandmates.
However, it seems like at least one fan didn’t get the memo about not asking Jae anything regarding this topic. In a recent interview with the solo artist, an interviewer asked Jae whether or not he still keeps up with the other members of DAY6 after he wished them well during his departure announcements.
Jae politely responds by sharing that he talks with the members “once in a blue moon”, indicating that it happens very infrequently, but that he wishes them well.

Many fans, however, didn’t have such a calm response. In reaction to the question, some fans called the interviewer “disrespectful” and “unappreciative” towards Jae for bringing up his former group, and that the focus should have been on his solo career now that he’s worked so hard on.

On the other hand, the clip was shared on online Korean forum Instiz and received a much different response. It seems like the “once in a blue moon” comment must not have worked well in translation, because many commenters there seemed relieved that Jae apparently still keeps up with the DAY6 members. In response, international fans took the comment to mean that Jae’s relationship with them is “cold” and doesn’t have much communication.
