It was reported that the participants had stayed at a youth campsite in Suncheon the day before the accident and were on their way to Seoul. The police and fire authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the accident.

The World Scout Jamboree is the world’s largest youth camp that takes place every four years in different countries. The 25th World Scout Jamboree started on August 1 in South Korea, where about 43,000 young scouts from 158 countries are in attendance. Since its opening day, the event made headlines for its extreme lack of preparation, causing children to suffer from heatstrokes and bringing humiliation to the nation.

With the event already being known as a “mess,” netizens were only more disappointed and shocked to hear that the Swiss attendees were in a bus crash. They expressed their concerns for the children who were in the accident and wished them to heal quickly.

The netizens also pointed out that the event was filled with “disaster after disaster,” such as the K-Pop concert controversy and the effects of Typhoon Khanun. Many netizens mentioned that the nation—or the event—must be cursed.
