TV Star’s Cryptic Instagram Post Worries Fans—Speculations About Its Meaning Emerge
News announcer-turned-TV star Jang Sung Kyu (also known as Jang Seong Kyu) shared a cryptic Instagram post that has since worried his fans.
On September 4, 2025 (KST), Jang Sung Kyu uploaded a black screen with the short caption, “20250904. Sung Kyu, don’t forget about today.” Without further explanation, the ambiguous message left Korean netizens confused and concerned.
While Jang Sung Kyu is yet to clarify, some have speculated that the post might be related to the first anniversary of the passing of late Oh Yoanna, a former MBC weathercaster.
Oh Yoanna died by suicide on September 15, 2024 and it was later revealed that she suffered workplace bullying from fellow weathercasters. Jang Sung Kyu’s name was mentioned in a group chatroom for weathercasters, raising suspicions that he had ignored the deceased’s workplace harassment.
Jang Sung Kyu explained the situation, “I first met the deceased around 2022 when I went to work out after finishing a radio broadcast.”
He revealed that Oh Yoanna had asked him for advice, and he offered her encouragement and comfort. He also stated, “I spoke to weathercaster Kim Gayoung, who I thought was close to Oh Yoanna, about helping her.”
It is still unclear as to what Jang Sung Kyu meant by this post. As he usually reveals a bright and positive energy, fans are even more curious and concerned.
