Jay Park’s New Idol Group Hit With Criticism Before Even Debuting
A first look at Jay Park’s upcoming idol group has already sparked criticism.
In early 2025, Jay Park shared that one of his goals for his company, MORE VISION, was to enter the idol realm by debuting a boy and girl group. He has mentioned this multiple times over the last few years, and even discussed his plans more recently, saying that he “definitely want to develop them into great artists, but I want them to be good human beings as well. That’s really important to me.”

The boy group’s name was recently revealed to be LNGSHOT, and the group joined him on stage at a recent festival, where they performed a song together.

Lngshot’s official social media also began to update, sharing images of the members, who range in age from 19 to 15. Jay Park has also shared that the members are talented and have producing abilities to make their own music.
Ahead of their debut, the image above was shared on a forum, where netizens reacted purely to the photo. Many were less than impressed, questioning the image Jay Park had for the group being in conflict with an “idol image.”
- If there are five people in the elevator like that, I wouldn’t get in.
- Nowadays, there are lots of idol fans who like hip-hop, but still… they should be careful showing poses like that so openly.
- The faces are all okay, and if the skills were picked by Jay Park, they’re probably solid… Just make sure to set a clear concept… If you’re going to be idols, don’t do stuff like that…
- Does this kind of vibe even work these days? It can’t be aimed at guys since no guy would be into male idols like that, and I doubt girls would like this concept either… I’m curious who they’re actually targeting with this.
However, with Jay Park’s known feelings about how idols are sometimes pressed into a specific image, he very likely is attempting to change the standard for with groups.
