Jennie stands up to protect Lisa, after cruel people insult and shame her
BLACKPINK began their 2019 World Tour with KIA [In Your Area] in Lisa‘s hometown, Bangkok, Thailand. It wasn’t all fun and games, though, as Lisa’s fellow members took the stage and seemed to address the recent controversy surrounding her appearance at the year end awards.
Jennie went on stage in front of BLACKPINK’s Thai fans and told them that they should “be proud of Lisa,” saying:
“Lisa is really strong and positive… We’ll take good care of her.”
Most believe that Jennie’s comments were in reference to recent negative comments about Lisa’s appearance at the 2018 Golden Disk Awards. The controversy surrounding the comments became so widespread that they even made it to the news in Thailand.
BLACKPINK Lisa’s Shocking ‘off the Shoulder’
“With makeup on, she looks like a Russian elf girl… If she dyes her hair black and washes off her makeup, she’s nothing but a Thai girl…”
In response, fans expressed their rage at how people were looking down on her appearance as well as her nationality.
Fans fought back by starting the “#RESPECT_LISA” campaign and even had heated discussions with the haters on Lisa’s Instagram account.

Lisa is a person and all people deserve respect. She is just a girl with a dream. If you don't like it because she isn't Korean then don't become a fan of the group, but please respect her. She didn't do anything to you and she couldn't choose her nationality. #RespectLisa pic.twitter.com/S2VOflArmk
