It was recently reported that singer Jessi canceled all of her broadcasting schedules due to health reasons. The same day, Jessi gave an update on her mental and physical health.
After several reports saying that Jessi didn’t show up for rehearsals to music programs, her agency, MORE VISION, announced on October 31 that she would not be appearing in upcoming broadcasts. They apologized for the sudden news and said they were doing their best for Jessi to recover her health.
The same day the announcement went out, Jessi appeared on SBS PowerFM‘s radio show Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time as a guest.
During the broadcast, a listener mentioned reading the article about Jessi’s health issues and asked if she was okay. Jessi confirmed that her condition has not been good lately and said that after leaving P NATION, she had experienced betrayal, which took a toll on her body and mind.
After leaving my agency, I was alone for a while. I learned a lot, but a lot of people betrayed me, so I found it difficult and lonely. But I need to keep working, right? So while trying to endure everything, my body broke down… I was just sprinting the whole time and got stressed, people left me, came back, and betrayed me. I got so many scars, so it was difficult.
She said her body wasn’t the same as it used to be and stressed the importance of managing stress.
In the past, I used to tell myself I can do it while doing schedules, but even this past summer, I felt like I was going to faint—I wasn’t like that before. For sure, if you don’t take care of your stress, no matter how well you perform well on stage, your body can’t do it.
When asked how she takes care of her stress, Jessi said she doesn’t. Therefore, she found rest to be what she needed to do most.
I don’t [take care of my stress]. I don’t even know how to. I pray a lot. I can’t take care of myself when I’m so busy and hectic, so I honestly don’t have a way of managing stress. I just think I need to rest because for the past three and a half to four years, I never rested once. But this isn’t about just resting with your body but your mind, too.
However, her inability to manage and relieve stress keeps her from getting good rest.
Because I couldn’t manage the stress, now my body can’t keep up. After doing radio with you and going through two other schedules, I should sleep when I get home. But I can’t because I’m so stressed.
Although Jessi always has a bright and loud personality on broadcasts, the singer revealed that she isn’t always like that—especially these days.
And these days, I have so many tears. I don’t even know that I’m going through a hard time but I can’t express it. People think I’m so honest, but I don’t talk about my pain. I always want to show my bright side, but I’m a person, too. And I want to be professional, so I can’t help but be bright and loud on broadcasts. But when I get home, I feel very lonely.
The DJ, Choi Hwa Jung, expressed her wish for this interview to be a stress-relieving time for Jessi.
Hearing how stress, betrayal, loneliness, and her busy schedule have made Jessi mentally and physically exhausted showed audiences how much she needed this break. Many hope the singer gets proper rest to regain her health.
