Police are investigating a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. Kim, who is known to be a family member of a famous female idol group member, on charges of sexually assaulting a female streamer. Amid this, additional allegations have surfaced that Kim and an acquaintance, Mr. A, threatened the victim by saying they would distribute photos of her body, prompting authorities to look into further details.

According to police on April 17, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station received a complaint from the victim, identified as Ms. B, accusing Kim, who was arrested on April 15, and Mr. A of violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act (threats using filmed material and distribution of illegally taken content). In her complaint, Ms. B claimed that Kim, who had received photos of her body, shared them with a third party and then used them to threaten her with distribution. Police are reported to have applied for an arrest warrant for Kim that same day.

The incident began on April 12, during an event hosted by the victim on the online streaming platform SOOP. Ms. B held a raffle event costing about ₩10,000 KRW (about $6.76 USD) per entry, offering prizes such as a meal date ticket and selfies. Kim reportedly purchased 500 entries at once, winning first place and receiving both the meal date ticket and photos via KakaoTalk.

After winning the meal date, Kim met Ms. B for dinner at a restaurant in Gangnam on April 14. He suggested they move to his home, saying it was “just five minutes away” to continue drinking. Despite Ms. B repeatedly expressing her refusal of any physical contact, Kim promised he “would never touch her” and took her to his residence. However, his attitude allegedly changed, and he proceeded to engage in inappropriate physical contact. While Kim admitted to physical contact during his arrest, he denied the use of force, claiming there was no coercion.

Ms. B also stated in her complaint that between 1.42 and 9.30am on April 17, she received messages from an unidentified Hong Kong-based KakaoTalk account, including her photos and a “hi” emoticon. When she asked about the source of the images, the account responded with threatening messages such as “the photos will be released soon” and “deal with it before they spread online.” When she pleaded for them not to be shared, the sender mockingly replied, “Your parents must be heartbroken.”

Ms. B: “Where did you get the photos?”

Mr. A: “The photos will be released soon. Deal with the matter if you don’t want them to be spread.”

Ms B: “How should I deal with it?”

Mr. A: “Such that the photos won’t be spread.”

Ms B: “And how can I do that?”

Mr. A: “You have to hide yourself.”

Ms B: “I don’t get it. Please tell me specifically, and please don’t spread the photos.”

Mr. A: “Your parents must be heartbroken. If you stop broadcasting and hide, we won’t spread the photos.”

Ms. B suspects that the account belongs to Kim’s acquaintance, Mr. A. She argues that since Kim was detained at the time and unable to use his phone, he must have conspired with Mr. A to carry out the threats externally.

It was also reported that the victim suffered severe psychological distress due to the assault and subsequent threats of distribution, requiring emergency medical treatment. KakaoTalk messages obtained by police show the urgency of the situation: while confined in Kim’s home, Ms. B went into the bathroom under the pretense of washing up, turned on the water to mask noise, and sent messages to her manager saying, “He won’t let me leave,” and “I think they’re going to kill me, please save me,” desperately asking for help. The police soon showed up at his doorstep.

Ms. B: “I’m so scared. What should I do? They’re going to kill me. What do I do? Please save me.”

Manager: “I’m almost there. Lock the door and wait for me.”

Ms. B: “Please help me. I don’t even know the unit number. Ugh, I’m going crazy.”

Kim has previously been embroiled in similar allegations. In May of last year, a post appeared on the anonymous workplace community Blind claiming that the poster had been secretly filmed during a sexual encounter with “(celebrity name)’s older brother” and that the footage had been illegally distributed. The post was deleted within a few hours. With the police releasing Mr. Kim’s last name and media outlets naming his former accusations, the identity of Mr. Kim points to BLACKPINK Jisoo’s older brother, Kim Jung Hun.
