Racist Online Post About KATSEYE’s Lara Sparks Outrage

Outraged fans are fiercely defending KATSEYE‘s Lara after a recent post about her gained attention on X (formerly known as Twitter).

KATSEYE most recently released “Gnarly” on April 30, their first song since summer 2024. The track sparked a lot of controversy due to its lyrics, which international fans have branded as “awful.”

On the other hand, Korean netizens seem to be big fans of the song as it has garnered quite the praise on online forums.

However, the group has been at the center of fandom fights for days, as they were initially accused of plagiarizing aespa‘s concept for their music video. Fans called out similarities between aespa’s “Drama” music video and KATSEYE’s “Gnarly” teaser.

It seems like the online fighting has escalated to a more serious level, as a recent tweet has gained attention with fans accusing the post of being racist towards KATSEYE member Lara.

The controversial tweet included a video of a K-Pop fan speaking English with an accent on a Twitter Space. Many fans in the post’s quote retweets and replies have accused the original poster of being racist for drawing the comparison just because of the accent.
Lara is a first-generation Indian American.
