Kim Yuna may receive 2014 Olympic gold medal due to doping scandal

Korea’s famous figure skater, Kim Yuna may be awarded the gold medal from the 2014 Sochi Olympics!

Kim Yuna was awarded the silver medal during the 2014 Sochi Olympics, which broke many fans’ hearts since she decided to retire after those Olympic games. This meant that Kim Yuna would not be able to redeem herself during the 2018 Olympics. What made this situation even worse is that the 2018 Olympics are to take place in Pyeongchang, Korea.

The gold medalist of the 2014 Sochi Olympics, Adelina Sotnikova is among 28 Russian athletes who are under investigation for doping by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This means that if Sotnikova is found guilty, her gold medal will likely be given to Kim Yuna.

Sotnikova’s win was controversial because she received 5 more points than Kim Yuna. Many professionals claimed that Sotnikova’s skills were lacking in comparison to Kim Yuna. Another reason for this controversy is the fact that Sotnikova has not claimed a gold medal after the Olympics in 2014.

Here are some photos of both Sotnikova and Yuna’s final performances below!
