On November 25, Suwon FC uploaded to their Instagram a poster for an event coinciding with Korea’s match against Ghana.

We are looking for fans to root for (Korea) during their match against Ghana. We are looking for Suwon FC fans to join Victoria Castle and Sweet Seungwoo! Please hurry as this event might close soon. Only members can make a reservation. Suwon’s name 💙.

The event originally stated that the team’s cheerleaders would be attending and that they would be personally serving customers who ordered a special menu item. To this, some netizens criticized the team, stating the event was in poor taste.

Is it right to have cheerleaders serving at a private business when it isn’t even at the game? And if customers order a special menu? I can’t believe this is an official event endorsed by the team. Please check your DMs.

Suwon FC released a statement through Women News in which they explained why the team’s cheerleaders would be present at the event and that after deliberation, they had scrapped the event in which the cheerleaders would be serving customers personally.

This event was organized to communicate with fans during the off-season. The cheerleaders will be teaching customers how to cheer and cheer along with them. The serving event was just one part of the event. However, after deliberating, we have decided the event may lead to misunderstandings, so we will be canceling it.
