Grandma Brutally Beaten In Koreatown L.A. For Absolutely No Reason

She was walking the streets in broad daylight when a man came and brutally punched her in the face, leaving her bleeding on the streets.

Days before her 86 birthday, Mi Reum Song was viciously attacked by an unknown man while walking in LA’s Koreatown.

She was simply walking the streets when a man came up to her and punched her in the face. The hit caused Song to fall, hit her head on the pavement, and lose consciousness. Song was taken to a nearby hospital where she received treatment and multiple stitches.

This attack was especially perplexing to detectives as it took place in the middle of the day, in one of the busiest parts of L.A., and where there were people that could see the incident. So far detectives are not completely sure of the motive but have a strong suspicion that the man had intended to rob Song. They believe that after seeing her fall, he ran from the scene because she was bleeding heavily.

Although the attack was not caught on camera, a nearby surveillance camera captured Song walking moments before the attack. The same camera captured a man running from the area moments after. While currently not a suspect, the man is a person of interest to police.

Song’s granddaughter, Yujin Audrey Ko, is furious and posted her grandmother’s picture to Facebook while asking for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Thankfully, Song has been discharged from the hospital, is resting at home, and seems to be in good spirits according to investigators who visited her.
