5 K-Pop Albums Just Earned Impressive New Gaon Certifications

Gaon gives out new certifications to K-Pop albums once a month based on their sales. These certifications are a huge accomplishment to receive, since they indicate an album reaching a big milestone in how many albums have been sold!

A platinum certification is awarded when an album reaches 250,000 sales; a double platinum certification is awarded at 500,000 sales; a triple platinum certification at 750,000 sales; and a million certification at, of course, one million sales.

On December 10, it was announced that there are 5 K-Pop albums that have been given new Gaon certifications due to their huge success with the public!

The first album is TWICE‘s Eyes Wide Open album. Released on October 26 with the title song “I Can’t Stop Me”, it has surpassed 250,000 sales and been given a platinum certification.

The other album to receive a platinum certification is TXT‘s Minisode1: Blue Hour! It also came out on October 26, and it’s great to see that this still-young group is already becoming so successful in their career.

Next up is SEVENTEEN‘s special album, ; [Semicolon]. This album, with the title song “Home;Run”, was released on October 19, and in that period of time, the album has made over one million sales, earning it a million certification! SEVENTEEN is definitely becoming a huge name in the K-Pop industry, and it’s well-deserved.

Another album to reach the incredible one million sales mark is NCT‘s album NCT Resonance Pt. 1. With the double title tracks “Make A Wish (Birthday Song)” and “From Home”, this huge group has proven that they’re a force to be reckoned with, and this million certification is a great accomplishment for them!

Finally, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to know that BLACKPINK‘s The Album, one of the highest-selling albums for a K-Pop girl group, has also been given a million certification. They really built up the hype over the summer with “How You Like That” and “Ice Cream” (with Selena Gomez), and they topped it off with the awesome early October hit “Lovesick Girls” that BLINKs obviously loved!
