Just 3 New K-Pop Songs Were Added To Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales Chart This Week

All of them were from two solo artists!

The Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart has had several weeks recently with several new K-Pop songs making their debut at the same time. This week, the number of new additions isn’t that dramatic, but the 3 K-Pop soloist songs that are making their debut are definitely great ones!

Songs that make it onto the chart are based on sales of international singles in the United States, and with K-Pop’s growing popularity, it seems like there’s more diversity in artists that make it onto the chart all the time.

IU | Show! Music Core

The highest-ranking new song to debut this week is “Bambi” by Baekhyun! The latest single by the EXO member is starting off pretty strong at #10 out of the 25-song list.

This is Baekhyun’s 11th song to make it onto the chart as a soloist or for a collaboration. His highest-charting so far has been “Dream”, his single with Bae Suzy, which peaked at #3 in 2016!

The next highest-ranking K-Pop song added to the chart is “Lilac” by IU! It comes right after “Bambi” at #11, and is the soloist’s 16th song to make it on the list (including duets with other soloists).

IU is also the artist behind the other new K-Pop song debuting this week, which is “Coin”. It’s ranked at #18 for its first week, and is her 17th song to chart!

Her best performing song on this particular list is “Eight”, her collaboration with BTS‘s Suga. It peaked at #1 last year and stayed on the chart for four weeks!

Along with these three songs, 13 other K-Pop songs made it onto the chart again this week! Like usual, BTS once again reigns supreme on the chart, taking up 7 of the placements: “Intro: Persona” (re-entering the chart this week at #2); “Life Goes On” (placed at #4); “Euphoria” (ranking at #5); “My Time” (at #7); “Filter” (at #9); “Mic Drop” ft. Desiigner (at #15); and “Boy With Luv” ft. Halsey (at #19).

BLACKPINK also has a couple of songs ranked on the list this week as well. “How You Like That” is the top-charting at #8, up from #10 last week. “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and “Kill This Love” both re-entered the chart this week, coming in at #22 and #23 respectively.

The three other K-Pop songs on the chart are “What Type of X” by Jessi (placed at #12 for its 3rd week); “Gangnam Style” by PSY (spending its 359th week on the chart at #13); and “Don’t Call Me” by SHINee (ranked at #17 for its 5th week).

Congratulations to all the charting artists this week!
