HYBE‘s first girl group LE SSERAFIM recently made its debut and was so successful they quickly took home a music show win. On what inspired maknae (youngest member) Hong Eunchae to initially become an idol, she revealed that a fellow HYBE artist had a lot to do with it.

Despite knowing that training to debut “wouldn’t be an easy task,” Hong Eunchae overcame all the struggles and focused on her goal. After finally debuting, interviewer Kim Ri Eun asked her, “What kind of energy would you like to give your fans through what you do?

Hong Eunchae wanted to give off the same energy as those who’d inspired her to become an idol. She recalled how seeing the group perform live made her realize her dream. Hong Eunchae said, “I went to Dream Concert in 2018, and when I saw all the fans cheering so hard during SEVENTEEN’s performance, I thought to myself, ‘I want to be up on that stage too.’

Although SEVENTEEN inspired Hong Eunchae to give positive energy to fans, making people happy was something she’d always hoped to do. She added, “And, even before I dreamed of being an idol, I wanted to be someone who could help others in person, like a teacher or a paramedic.

From seeing the warm relationship between SEVENTEEN and Carats, Hong Eunchae wanted to become an idol who could share that same excitement and warmth with her fans and even her members.

I’m usually shy around strangers, but I want to be someone who’s bright and can give strength to other people.

So I like to make the other members laugh and give them whatever strength I can when they’re having a hard time, and I want to be a really energetic and cheerful artist for the fans.

If Hong Eunchae hadn’t seen SEVENTEEN’s live performance and their strong impact on fans, she might not have become the idol she is now.
