Lee Hongki’s Comments On Choi Minhwan’s Status With FTISLAND After Prostitution Scandal Earn Harsh Criticism

In October 2024, Former LABOUM‘s Yulhee released a bombshell video where she exposed her ex-husband, F.T. Island‘s Minhwan, for allegedly going to multiple adult entertainment establishments, including brothels and karaoke rooms with service girls.

Minhwan’s case for prostitution were ultimately dismissed due to a lack of evidence, as well as the sexual assault charge against Yulhee.

Police Confirm Unexpected Update Regarding FTISLAND Choi Minhwan’s Prostitution Scandal

In the time after the scandal was revealed, Minhwan entered a hiatus and stepped down from media activities, including with FTISLAND.

Lee Hongki has shown his support for Minhwan on more than one occasion, commenting his thoughts on the scandal.

Recently, Hongki gave an unexpected update on the idol’s status with the group.

According to media, during his HONGKI B-DAY PARTY event, Hongki spoke about the group’s future activities. Hongki stated that Minhwan would return to activities outside of Korea, but that the group would promote as two people in Korea.

There are people who feel uncomfortable about it domestically. Everyone has different perspectives, and I believe those should be respected. I will make sure to reflect more. Eventually, I hope we can perform as a trio in Korea again.

He also stated that if Minhwan had done something unforgivable, he would have been removed but that perspectives differ.

I have a feeling I know what everyone will say, but we have made up our minds. The most important thing is that FTISLAND needs a drummer. If he had truly done something unforgivable, we would have taken a different path without hesitation. But since perspectives differ, we believe a drummer is necessary.
