Lim Hyung Joo appointed as UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador
Pop tenor, Lim Hyung Joo, has been appointed as an honorary ambassador of UNESCO Korea‘s Artist of Peace. UNESCO Korea has announced that Lim Hyung Joo’s commemoration event for the appointment as the first honorary ambassador of UNESCO Korea’s Artist of Peace will take place in Seoul on the afternoon of December 18th.
UNESCO Korea has recognized Lim Hyung Joo for his passionate devotion as a musician in spreading cultural awareness of Korea to the world. Also, the pop tenor is well-known for giving back to the community through charity events and volunteer works. Lim Hyung Joo has also been involved with UNESCO in the past, including fund-raising events for improving education in developing countries and awareness events for protecting UNESCO’s world heritage sites.
Prior to this appointment, Lim Hyung Joo included a free UNESCO fund-raising campaign “Education is Hope” on his solo recital, Finally, pamphlet that took place last month. He was also chosen as one of the top 100 respectable people by 4,000 teenage students in 2007.
Meanwhile, along with Lim Hyung Joo, UNESCO Korea has appointed poet Go Eun, jazz-vocalist Na Yoon Seon, cross over musician Yang Pang Un, actress Shin Se Kyung, Korean classical musician Song So Hee, and a total of 11 other renowned figures to become various honorary ambassadors. The appointed ambassadors are to participate in UNESCO Korea’s events without any compensation.
