MAMAMOO Dishes On Their Comeback And Their "2021 Where Are We” Project

MAMAMOO just made their successful comeback with the mini-album WAW and title track “Where Are We Now.” To discuss details on their comeback, the members participated in a Q&A interview with Seoul Economy.

When asked about how they feel about their comeback with WAW, the members shared they since they hadn’t seen their fans in a long time it feels like they’re “Making a comeback after a long time.”

As for details on the album, the group shared they wanted to show a more mature side to themselves and filled the album with beautiful ballads.

We put a lot of ballads as b-side tracks on PAST albums, but this is the first time every song is a ballad, including the title track. We are looking forward to showcasing a more mature image, as well as MAMAMOO’s harmony and chemistry that we’ve been developing for a long time.

The girls desired mature image can clearly be presented in their title track, “Where Are We Now” as it represents a story of people thinking over their lives.

‘Where Are We Now’ is about people who have been on a long journey together and stopping to ask each other, ‘Where are we now?’ It’s about the past, the present, and the future. It’s not just MAMAMOO’s story, but a story that everyone can share.

As for the member’s journey and where they are now, the group expressed how thankful they are to be on this journey as idols and the things they experience together.

There’s a line in the song that goes, ‘One day in a long journey.’ I think that right now we are in one day of that long journey called life. We’re grateful that we can be on this journey together with the members and with our fans, MooMoos. In the time we’ve spent on this journey as MAMAMOO, we’ve experienced a lot of things that we wouldn’t have been able to do alone.

WAW is just the starting point of MAMAMOO’s ‘2021 Wear a We.’ According to the members, ‘2021 Wear a We’ will include a documentary as well as a summer concert!

We prepared for both the documentary and the concert at the same time we prepared for our album. The documentary is constantly in production, so you’ll be able to view it soon. The concert will take place when the everything is more stable for everyone, so we’re getting together several things. The goal is for this summer, so please look forward to it.
