The MAMAMOO star pointed out the stark contrast between Korea and other countries, where the pressure surrounding marriage tends to be less stringent.

In other countries, it’s a bit more free, but in Korea, the perspective on marriage is still quite conservative, isn’t it?

When asked whether she aimed to challenge these norms, she answered affirmatively, calling it her dream to break those boundaries.

Park Na Rae: “Break [those views]? Will you break them down?”

Hwasa: “That’s my dream.”

Hwasa also shared her perspective on how society should shift. Drawing a comparison to international pop stars like Rihanna and Beyoncé — who have continued to perform while pregnant and are still celebrated as artists — she expressed a desire for Korea to adopt a similar mindset.

For example, Rihanna and Beyoncé continue to perform on stage even when pregnant, and they are still viewed as just Rihanna and Beyoncé, as artists. I hope Korea becomes more free like that. I want people to not be so bound by negative views of marriage. It’s okay to live freely if you find a good person.

Hwasa’s remarks are a bold stance on a topic that continues to be a sensitive issue in Korean society, where traditional views on marriage and family still hold strong influence. As such, they’re already garnering a lot of attention online.
