Here’s Everything We Know About The New Live Action Movie “Mulan”

“Mulan” is scheduled to be released on March 27, 2020.

1. Jimmy Wong has been cast as Ling.

Jimmy Wong (31) is a Chinese-American actor and musician.

He is most known for his music video: “Ching Chong! Asians in the Library Song” as well as his role in the comedy web series Video Game High School.

 

2. Doua Moua will take on the role of Po.

Doua Moua is a Hmong-American actor who was born in Thailand and raised in Minnesota.

He is most well-known for his role as Spider in Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino.

 

3. Yoson An will play the role of Chen Honghui, Mulan’s love interest (similar to the role of Li Shang in the original film).

 

4. Liu Yufei has been confirmed to play the role of Mulan.

Liu Yufei is a Chinese actress who was selected from a pool of 1000 actors auditioning for the part. Mulan will be her first major Hollywood film.

 

5. Jet Li and Li Gong will act as the Emperor of China and a witch, respectively.

Li Gong’s character, who is a powerful sorceress, is the villain of the plot.

 

6. Donnie Yen has taken on the role of Commander Tung, a mentor to Mulan when she joins the army.

 

7. Niki Caro is the director of the film.

Niki Caro is a film director and screenwriter from New Zealand who gained recognition for the film Whale Rider, which won numerous awards at international film festivals.

 

8. The movie will not be a musical like the original animation.

Much to the disappointment of some, the movie will not include many of the musical numbers from the original animation.

 

9. Mushu will not be featured in the movie

The charming little dragon voiced by Eddie Murphy, Mushu, will not be a part of the live action film.
