Music industry experts list the Top 10 Best K-Pop Idol Vocalists
With the popularity of MBC‘s masked singing competition King of Masked Singer giving idols a chance to show off their real vocal skills, one has to ask, who does the public think is the best idol vocalists?
News Ade reached out to several music industry experts including entertainment personnel and revealed the results on October 18th.
Here is the “Best 10 Idol Vocals” voted by the participating experts:
Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon: She is known as the group’s main vocalist and is known for her various hit drama OST’s such as “If” and “I Love You.” With a score of 93 and 22 of the votes, she takes #1 as the Best Idol Vocalist as voted by music industry experts.
Currently, she is promoting her debut track “I.”
SISTAR‘s Hyorin: Known as the main vocalist for SISTAR. Released a solo album in 2013, Love & Hate and took part of MBC‘s I Am A Singer 2. With a score of 87 and 21 of the votes, she takes #2 as the Best Idol Vocalist as voted by music industry experts.
She is currently participating in Mnet‘s Unpretty Rapstar Vol.2 as a rapper.
XIA Junsu: Former TVXQ member and current JYJ member. Debuted as a soloist in Korea in May 2015 and has since seen success in not only his solo career, but as a JYJ member and a musical actor as well. With a score of 51 and 12 of the votes, he takes #3 as the Best Idol Vocalist as voted by music industry experts.
Just recently released his mini-album Yesterday.
SHINee‘s Jonghyun: Known as SHINee’s main vocalist. Released his first solo album at the beginning of 2015, BASE, and recently released another solo album filled with songs written and composed by him, Story Op.1. With a score of 29 and 8 of the votes, he takes #4 as the Best Idol Vocalist as voted by music industry experts.
Apink‘s Eunji: Known as Apink’s main vocalist. Hasn’t released a solo album as of yet. Showed off her singing skills by singing a trot song on KBS drama Trot Lovers.
With a score of 27 and 7 of the votes, she takes #5 as the Best Idol Vocalist as voted by music industry experts.
BIGBANG‘s Taeyang: Released his first full-length solo album in 2010 and his second full-length album in 2014, for which he saw immense success with “Eyes Nose Lips,” winning a Daesang for it.
With a score of 26 and 7 of the votes, he takes #6 as the Best Idol Vocalist as voted by music industry experts.
Super Junior‘s Kyuhyun: One of its vocalist. Made his solo debut with an album released in 2014, At Gwanghamun.
With a score of 20 and 6 of the votes, he takes #7 as the Best Idol Vocalist as voted by music industry experts.
He just recently released his second solo album, Fall, Once Again, and is promoting his title track “A Million Pieces.”
EXID‘s Solji: Known as EXID’s main vocalist. Gained popularity after appearing as a masked contestant on King of Masked Singer‘s Lunar Year Special and before it came a regular weekly program.
With a score of 20 and 5 of the votes, she takes #8 as the Best Idol Vocalist as voted by music industry experts.
BEAST‘s Yang Yoseob: BEAST’s main vocalist. Releases his first solo album The First Collage in 2012.
With a score of 9 and 3 of the votes, he takes #9 as the Best Idol Vocalist as voted by music industry experts.
MAMAMOO‘s Solar: MAMAMOO’s leader and mian vocalist. She doesn’t yet have a solo album but MAMAMOO’s latest release is their 3rd mini-album Pink Funky, which has the leading track “Um Oh Ah Yeh.” Also appeared on KBS’s Immortal Song along with her group.
With a score of 9 and 3 of the votes, she ties with Yang Yoseob as #9 as the Best Idol Vocalist as voted by music industry experts.
