NCT’s Mark And Johnny Think NCTzens Will Love These Songs From “Sticker,” Based On Mark’s Theory

Did they guess your favorite song?

NCT have a ton of songs in their discography, especially across all their different units. Out of all of them, however, there tends to be a few that are considered fan favorites! Here’s how Mark predicts which ones fans will gravitate towards.

Mark and Johnny recently co-hosted on Travis Mills‘ Apple Music radio show where they talked about their latest album, Sticker, and went through the tracklist. Mills asked the two NCT members if they typically know which songs fans will like, and they both said yes!

Travis Mills: When y’all are in the studio making music, do you already know what song fans are gonna gravitate towards?

Mark: Kind of, yeah!

Johnny: Kind of, yes.

Mark then shared his theory — a “Mark Theory” as Johnny called it — for the first time out loud, according to him.

This is a theory that I always had, every time I made an album. I feel like the fans listen to the songs the way we listen to it, you know? So if we kind of gravitate towards a song more than another song, let’s say, I have a feeling — it’s like this intuition, I guess, that the fans are gonna be— we have a similar taste, I feel like. I never said this out loud before, but I always had it in my mind.

Travis Mills said that Mark’s intuition about fans’ opinions is a great “testament” to how connected they are with NCTzens! Mills then asked Johnny and Mark which songs they think fans would like. Mark joked that they have too many, but they agreed it’d likely be the last song, “Promise You,” or “Lemonade.”

In this album we’ve got songs like ‘Lemonade’ where you want to bop your head, but then there are songs like ‘Promise You’ which is kind of like…you get teary-eyed. It’s one or the other, I feel.

“Promise You” is an emotional ballad written for NCTzens that’s all about promising to meet each other again when it’s safe to do so, while “Lemonade” is a powerful track with equally powerful choreography. They’re both loved by fans, so it seems like Johnny and Mark were on to something!
