Netizens argue intensely as FTISLAND’s Hongki reveals he earns more than CNBLUE’s Yonghwa
On the April 1st broadcast of Radio Star, FTISLAND’s Hongki revealed that he makes the most money in FNC Entertainment, prompting netizens to question the validity of the statement given the agency also houses CNBLUE’s Yonghwa.
When the topic of popularity came up on Radio Star, it was revealed that because Hongki is hugely popular not only within Korea but also around the globe, it is not uncommon for him to make over $1 billion won (approximately $907,000 USD) from a fan meeting or a concert. To this, Hongki added that he ranks #1 within FNC Entertainment in terms of sales generated by an individual artist.
As the comments traveled around the internet, many netizens began questioning whether this is really the truth. Some netizens stated, “Ha! But I thought fans always complain about FNC Entertainment not giving enough resources to FTISLAND…how is this possible then?“, “What about Yonghwa?“, and “Yonghwa is going to have something to say about this.”
Other netizens defended Hongki, saying, “I’m speechless. Why are people asking about Yonghwa? Hongki is clearly #1…Yonghwa is #2 at best,” “Hongki is so straightforward, I’m sure he’s telling the truth,” and “Please leave, Yonghwa fans.”
Many netizens also remained neutral, commenting on the fact that Hongki and Yonghwa have a really good relationship and there is no need to compare the two of them in a negative way.
In the same episode of Radio Star, Hongki also revealed that he got angry at FNC Entertainment’s CEO for criticizing him.
