BLACKPINK‘s Jennie recently stole the hearts of fans after making her debut at the 2023 Met Gala. However, netizens have come to the idol’s defense after criticism about her look.
Since debuting, Jennie has always put her own spin on unique trends and shocked fans with her unreal style on stage, at events, or even when she is just enjoying some free time.
On May 1 (local time), Jennie made her debut at the prestigious Met Gala. As expected, Jennie absolutely shined at the event and went viral for her beauty and unreal outfit.

After the event, Jennie posted some photos of her gorgeous look on Instagram. Even before the event started, Jennie looked like a true princess in her outfit. With the simple design and clean cut, she looked like an actress from the 1920s.
When she made it onto the red carpet, Jennie shined with her elegant outfit, lighter makeup, and a simple but regal hairstyle.
Yet, while many loved Jennie’s outfit and look, some users online didn’t feel like it worked with the event, especially considering how simple it was compared to the other looks.

After seeing the criticism, netizens quickly came to the defense of Jennie and the outfit.
While many agreed it was simple, others explained that not everything at the event has to be dramatic to shine. Also, considering the Chanel team remade an archive piece from Karl Lagerfeld specifically for Jennie, the combination of the minimalist look, makeup, and hair worked perfectly.

While on the red carpet, Jennie chatted with reporters, and one asked her, as the first time she’s attended, what did the idol think would happen inside.
After hearing the question, Jennie joked that she always saw people wearing huge dresses and wondered how comfortable it was during the event. She even joked that with her look, she was actually able to sit down properly.
