Netizens Joke That Female Idols’ “Type” In Relationships Has Changed Amidst An Influx Of Dating News
It seems like in the last year and a half, there has been more dating news within the world of K-Pop. In particular, it seems like there’s been a huge increase in dating news for female idols, and netizens have joked about how female singers have a new “type” when it comes to picking a boyfriend.
Back at the start of 2023, Dispatch revealed that singer IU was dating actor Lee Jong Suk, with photos of “couple items,” and since then, they’ve showcased support in various ways.
The world was shocked when it was shared that BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo and Ahn Bo Hyun were dating, although it was later revealed that they had broken up due to their busy schedules.
Wonder Girls‘ Yubin announced in May 2023 that she was dating Korean tennis player Kwon Soon Woo, but the two revealed they had split later that year.
The last confirmed news of a female idol dating was aespa‘s Karina, who was revealed to be dating actor Lee Jae Wook after meeting at a fashion event.
More recently, while it hasn’t been confirmed by the agencies, Korean media reported that TWICE‘s Jihyo is allegedly dating Olympian Yun Sung Bin.
After looking at the trend over the last year and a half, netizens have joked that female idols are no longer interested in dating male idols. Following Jihyo’s rumors, netizens pointed out that all the top female idols who have been revealed to be dating have chosen men outside the industry, whether it’s actors, athletes, or those who aren’t in the spotlight.
