Famous Idol Hit With Backlash After Exposing SM’s Training Method

On the most recent episode of Kim Jae Joong’s YouTube series, idol group WINNER’s Kang Seungyoon and Kim Jinwoo appeared as guests.

In particular, they talked about the differences between YG Entertainment and SM Entertainment. WINNER felt that being cool and expressing that vibe was the style of YG.

Jaejoong: The company lets them be free like that, while other companies don’t. From clothes to accessories…whatever they want.

Jinwoo:  But they normally manage that? Don’t do this, don’t do that?

Jaejoong: (At SM) If other trainees dress up too much, they say, ‘Do you think now is the time to dress up?’ It’s time to adorn your inside, not outside. They should focus on their character development.

Seungyoon: If we don’t dress up, they would say things like ‘Why aren’t you being cool?’ So even when they don’t care for us, we always put thought into our outfits, develop them, and go to markets to find clothes.

Jaejoong: For us, even before all the accessories and clothing, if the company thinks they have potential, then they try fitting clothes for them.

Seungyoon: It’s a different culture.

However, netizens criticized Jaejoong’s statement regarding SM’s management style.

So, how did you work on your inside? What did you do for character management? Looking at the state of SM now, it feels like they’ve done nothing. YG focuses so much on appearance that they could open an online shop. They could probably succeed if they opened an English academy since they’re all good at foreign languages.

This guy cursed and tampered under SM’s slave contract, and yet he’s still making money talking about his days at SM. Did you drink and drive after receiving character management at SM.
