Netizens Slam News Reports Claiming NewJeans Have “Filled In” The Void Left By BTS — Fans Split On HYBE’s Involvement
Netizens erupted in anger at recent news headlines alleging that NewJeans have “filled in” the void left by BTS.
On January 26, an online post went viral. In the post, the author uploads several news headlines from recent weeks.

The post included dozens of recent news articles, all seemingly mentioning BTS and NewJeans in the same article. Although the articles vary in topics (NewJeans Billboard ranking to HYBE stock prices), all of them mention BTS and NewJeans.
Netizens slammed the news articles for suggesting that NewJeans had “filled in” for BTS. Despite NewJeans achieving almost unprecedented success so soon after their debut, many fans took offense that anyone would suggest that the biggest music group in the world could ever be replaced. Netizens were split, however, with most alleging HYBE was purposefully using the articles to prop up its stock prices, while some defended the label and alleged it had nothing to do with the articles.

- “If (the press) keeps mentioning BTS and NewJeans together, the public will eventually think they are on the same level. I think that’s what (HYBE) wants, LOL. But (NewJeans) has still a long way to go, and the (public) will catch on to the tactic and resent (HYBE).”
- “Now NewJeans can be the breadwinner for HYBE, LOL. I guess BTS can put their hearts at ease and leave (HYBE), LOL. There are so many fans who are pissed at HYBE and are waiting for the contract to end. I guess we can now have hope this will happen.”
