Korean Media Reveals Kim Sae Ron’s Text Message To Kim Soo Hyun In 2024

Amidst relationship allegations between the late Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun, Kim Soo Hyun was also accused of attempting to extort Kim Sae Ron of millions through the company he founded, Gold Medalist. Gold Medalist housed Kim Sae Ron until her DUI incident.
Kim Soo Hyun’s Agency Allegedly Tried To Rip Kim Sae Ron Off Of 13 Million Dollars
Kim Sae Ron’s aunt claimed that the company initially tried to ask Kim Sae Ron to pay ₩20.0 billion KRW (about $13.7 million USD) in penalty fees. After some questioning about the hefty calculations, the company allegedly paid ₩700 million KRW (about $480,000 USD) for her. At that point in time, Kim Soo Hyun had told her it was okay not to pay it back. Kim Sae Ron offered to pay it back slowly through her work. In 2024, she was suddenly slammed with a lawsuit by the company, asking her to repay the debt.
In a message dated March 19, 2024, Kim Sae Ron allegedly begged Kim Soo Hyun to give her some time to pay it off, rather than slapping her with a lawsuit. The message was revealed via Korean media outlets on March 11, 2025, a day after their relationship controversy broke.
Oppa, this is Sae Ron. I received the letter of certification today, that [your company] is suing me. You said that you would give me ample time, so I’m working hard, preparing to make a comeback. I will pay you back with a percentage from each work. I’m not saying that I won’t pay you back, but if you suddenly ask for ₩700 million KRW (about $480,000 USD) right now, I really can’t do anything. It’s not that I won’t, but I can’t. Do you really have to take it as far as a lawsuit? Please save me… I beg of you. Give me some time.
