An OG idol’s swimming pool video with his daughter has unexpectedly sparked a controversy, prompting the production team to issue a direct clarification.
On the 3rd, the YouTube channel “jangsuwonted” uploaded a video titled A Dad’s Legendary Judgment Mistake While Playing with His Child. The video showed Sechs Kies member Jang Suwon holding his two-year-old daughter while enjoying water play in a pool.
In the revealed scene, Jang Suwon went down a water slide holding his daughter, but lost his balance on the way down and momentarily fell into the water. Startled, the child began crying, and Jang Suwon immediately hugged her and apologized, saying “I’m sorry.” Fortunately, the child soon calmed down.
The issue arose after they got out of the water. Observing the scene, Jang Suwon’s wife scolded him, and a scene followed showing her burying her face in a towel, apparently emotionally overwhelmed.
After these edited scenes were released, some viewers reacted with mixed opinions, saying things like “The mom seemed more shocked,” “Is crying over that an overreaction?” “You can see their usual parenting style,” and “The dad must have been very scared too,” sparking debate.
As the controversy grew, the production team responded directly in the comments. They explained, “The mother was not crying, and the atmosphere on site was not that serious,” adding, “There might have been parts edited to create tension. We will pay more attention to editing in the future.”
They continued, “From what we saw, Jang Suwon’s family is an ordinary, loving, harmonious household,” and requested, “Please refrain from reckless criticism.”
Jang Suwon married stylist Ji Sang Eun, who is one year his senior, in 2021. After nine attempts at IVF, the couple welcomed their first daughter in 2024 and have been sharing their parenting and family daily life on YouTube to connect with viewers.
