The One Dance Move TWICE’s Jihyo Doesn’t Like Doing Anymore Because It’s Embarrassing

It’s too cute.

On August 18, Jihyo released her solo EP ZONE. It showcased her talents as a musician who can sing, dance, and perform flawlessly—even when standing on stage by herself.

On August 23, Jihyo appeared on singer Lee Mujin‘s show Lee Mujin Service, and talked about her long career in the K-Pop industry.

She discussed how she became a trainee in 2005 when she was only eight years old and, therefore, didn’t remember the moment she decided she wanted to be a K-Pop star. The opportunity was handed to her, and training as a K-Pop star became ordinary to her—just like going to school was ordinary for other teenagers.

Jihyo also shared behind-the-scene facts about what she went through after she debuted in TWICE. She admitted she suffered a lot because she had spent ten years practicing pop songs during vocal training, only to sing K-Pop songs after debuting. This caused people to criticize her singing abilities and believe she wasn’t good enough at the time.

Lee Mujin then asked her a question about the songs she performs at TWICE concerts. He then asked her what choreography from TWICE songs was embarrassing to her now because of how cute it is.

In the early days of TWICE, there were many cute songs, right? The choreography was like that too. And you’ve mentioned that some of these choreographies now seem a bit embarrassing. So, among those, if you had to pick one choreography that you really want to avoid now…

Jihyo immediately had an answer. It was TWICE’s “What is Love,” a song with a cute concept from 2018.

She stated that she didn’t like the ending pose, where she had to make a question mark with her team members while shaking.

The choreography involves making the shape of a question mark. You have to keep wondering. At the very end, I sit down, and I become the tip of the question mark. And while sitting, I need to shake. I need to shake and make cute faces. But I can’t do that anymore. So I don’t.

Lee Mujin then attempted to do the choreography, too.

Jihyo was telling the truth when she said she doesn’t do the shaking part of the choreography anymore. The first comeback stage for “What is Love?” showed Jihyo shaking as the point of the question mark.

However, in later clips, she did other moves instead. For example, at the TWICE 1st ARENA TOUR BDZ, she did a few shrugs instead.
