Popular Actress Forced Into Debt To Pay Taxes Resurfaces Amid Cha Eunwoo’s Tax Scandal

Amid the ongoing ASTRO’s Cha Eunwoo tax evasion controversy, which has taken over the industry, interest in celebrities who have faithfully fulfilled their tax obligations is growing.

Every March, on Taxpayers’ Day, the National Tax Service announces individuals who have demonstrated exemplary tax payment and contributed significantly to strengthening the national budget.

Celebrities who receive the highest honors serve as National Tax Service ambassadors.

Most recently, actors Ji Jin Hee and Park Ha Sun received the Presidential Citation in 2025, setting an example of diligent taxpayer behavior.

Park Ha Sun confessed, “It was tough. I broke my savings and even borrowed money to pay my taxes. After years of paying like that, I have received this award.”

In 2024, actors Kang Ha Neul and Shin Hye Sun received the award.

Being selected as an exemplary taxpayer offers various benefits, including exemption from tax audits for 3 years from the date of selection. For one year from being selected, taxpayers can receive a 10% to 30% discount on weekday fares when using the train for business purposes.
