A social critic named Choi Sung Jin stated that the situation has amplified because Park Kyung revealed the actual names of the artists that reportedly manipulated music charts.

He continued, “Cyber defamation can lead up to three years in prison or a fine of 30,000,000 KRW (~25,407.60 USD) even if the statement ends up being false.”

Choi added, “We need to make it clear that there are punishments for unconfirmed rumors.”

Park Kyung’s agency responded, “He had no intention of defaming a certain person and was just making a statement about the situation of the current music charts.”

Despite Park’s clarifications, the controversy has grown with the singers mentioned continuing to rank high on the real-time search engine sites.

Previously, Park Kyung posted a message on Twitter revealing the names of actual artists who allegedly used the sajaegi method to improve ranks on music charts. After the controversy rose, he deleted the comment and postponed his fan sign event.
