Park Shin Hye Attacked With Malicious Comments After Posting A Photo Of Hanbok Online

The controversy doesn’t look like it will die down soon.

Actress Park Shin Hye recently received an attack of malicious comments from Chinese netizens on her Instagram after posting a photo of herself wearing hanbok. In the photo, she is wearing a green hanbok and showing off her elegant figure and bright smile.

I thought I had worn it enough during the filming of ‘The Royal Tailor’, but it’s always nice to wear it again.

But after this post was uploaded, she was bombarded with malicious comments from Chinese netizens. They continued on the recent controversial claims by the Chinese government, which claimed hanbok as a part of Chinese culture.

  • “Isn’t the hanbok an improved version of traditional Chinese clothing?”
  • “Hanbok is developed by improving traditional Chinese clothing.”

After seeing this, Korean netizens shot right back as a response.

  • “You guys really have a lot of time on your hands.”
  • “Were you brainwashed altogether?”
  • “Why are you doing this. This is pathetic.”

The hanbok controversy has been a hot topic in recent events. At the opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, they featured women in hanbok as representatives of 56 ethnic minorities of China.

With the controversy growing, the Chinese Embassy in Korea stated, “The hanbok belongs to the Korean Peninsula and also belongs to the Chinese Joseon. The Chinese Joseon and the Korean Peninsula have the same ancestry. They have a common traditional culture, including clothing.” However, this statement to try and reduce the anti-China sentiment only bought antipathy.
