Popular 3rd Gen Idol Puts Fan On Blast, Sparking Huge Backlash
MAMAMOO’s Moonbyul is under fire after publicly exposing a fan’s name and texts on a private fan messaging app. The girl group star has sparked heated debate among Korean netizens.

During a recent chat, Moonbyul shared a screenshot that clearly showed a fan’s username, appearing to call them out for being a “fake fan.” The fan in question seemingly insinuated that Moonbyul values her solo fans (called Shooting Stars) more than group fans (MooMoos).

Moonbyul: “I found a fake MooMoo. If you’re okay with it, I’d like to post it so they can leave. Can I?”
Fan Message: “But even putting people like that aside, both MooMoos and Shooting Stars still love you all the same. Sometimes, when you say things like ‘I treasure Shooting Stars more than MooMoos’ or ‘There are four MooMoo rooms but only one Shooting Star room,’ as a MooMoo myself, I start to think, ‘Why is that? Am I wrong for liking MAMAMOO?’
Fan Message: “Byul unnie, please don’t say things like that anymore. Everyone’s going to get hurt. I’m sorry.”
Moonbyul then admitted she left the name visible on purpose.

Fan Message: “All the names are visible. Did you show them on purpose?”
Moonbyul: “Yeah! That’s the only way people will know!”
Moonbyul’s reply to a fan saying they can’t attend her upcoming event also drew attention.

FanMessage: “ㅠㅠ I’m so sad I can’t go to HamByul Land because I live in another region and have schedule conflicts…”
Moonbyul: “Just come see me instead. Rather than ‘our future,’ I think the present ‘us’ is more important.
Fan Message: “They said they can’t come because you live far away…”
Moonbyul: “Then they won’t be able to come to a concert someday either…”
The MAMAMOO star then mentioned wanting to “spray bug spray” to get rid of certain people in her previous live broadcast, referring to those she said misunderstood her words.

No one said anything bad today, I wasn’t in a bad mood either. It was fun. There were just a few people in the live who didn’t understand what I was saying, so I was just trying to spray a little ‘bug spray’ to get rid of them. We’ve got sweet honey between us, so they must’ve come looking for it. I never meant to make you feel hurt. I actually had such a great time hanging out with you today.

The situation escalated when screenshots of her messages went viral on X, where netizens accused her of acting unprofessionally.
Celebrity or not, I think it’s absolutely wrong for anyone to emotionally lash out at the people who love them. As a human being, you just shouldn’t do that. In the end, even with all this being made public, it’s the fans who’ll be the most hurt.

Out of all of them, you’re the one who’s benefited the most from that lesbian bait. You really shouldn’t be doing this.

You’re not even born in 2002. You’re a 1992-liner acting this childish?
