Who Is He? A Popular Actor Goes From Not Being Able To Pay Rent To Buying A Building Worth 7 Billion Won

Actor Jung Sang Hoon has become the owner of a property worth ₩7.00 billion KRW (about $5.29 million USD).

According to a media report on May 10, Jung Sang Hoon purchased a building with a basement and three floors in Yeoksam-dong for ₩7.40 billion KRW (about $5.59 million USD) under the name of his company, Hangyeol Entertainment, in May of last year. He paid off the balance in March of this year.

This was a significant moment for the actor as his journey to purchasing this building was not an easy one. Jung Sang Hoon overcame about 20 years of being an unrecognized actor and financial difficulties to get to where he is today.

He previously confessed his past financial difficulties on a TV show, sharing that he once lived without having money to pay his rent and security deposit. It was more stressful for him because he was planning to get married soon.

Jung Sang Hoon debuted in 1998 in the SBS K-Drama How Do I Look? He played a character pining after a girl played by actress Song Hye Kyo.

Afterward, he was in multiple K-Dramas and musicals but was not recognized by the public for about 17 years until he joined the fourth season of tvN‘s Saturday Night Live Korea (SNL) in 2014.

Although it took him some time to find the perfect role on SNL, by season 5, he became famous as a fake Chinese correspondent and continued to be recognized for his comedic characters.

His determination and drive to keep going and never give up on his dreams inspire us all. In fact, when he sang on MBC‘s King of Masked Singer in the past, he gave a word of encouragement to everyone.
