Following the criticism, it seems that the group has addressed the ongoing discussion.

On April 24, NCT WISH attended M!Countdown where they performed their latest comeback, “poppop.”

The group were nominated for first place up against their NCT group mate Mark. NCT WISH had a higher score, resulting in their first win on M!Countdown since their debut.

During their award acceptance speech, leader Sion first addressed fans, thanking them for their support while promising to improve.

Dear Czennies… When we were putting our album together, we really looked forward to promoting it because it had so many good songs. It is thanks to your love and support that we’ve been able to win this prize. Thank you so much. We know that we’re lacking and we have a long way to go, but we’ll keep growing together and do our best to show you only the best of NCT WISH. Thank you.

Many fans expressed their belief this was directed at the recent issues, and hoped that they would be able to overcome the criticism while remaining true to themselves.

K-netizens offered a range of reactions, with some showing support as others continued the criticism of the members.

  • It’s not like they’re trying to sweep it under the rug — they’re giving direct feedback, and that makes me want to support them. I don’t think it’s something worth getting beaten up over, but I also don’t think it was appropriate behavior for an idol. I hope they take this incident seriously and only show us good sides moving forward.
  • Meanwhile, the ones who actually caused the issue are just standing there doing nothing — what kind of “facing it head-on” is that? lol. The leader is just trying to smooth things over with empty words. lol
  • Just stop putting Yushi and Sakuya on variety shows… they don’t have a gift for speaking or talent. The company just wants to push them for their own gain.
  • The attitude has already been criticized, and since a member personally apologized and said they’d try to change, I think we should applaud that courage and give them a chance. If they repeat the same behavior after saying that, then criticism is totally deserved. But if someone says they want to change and people still keep bashing them without giving them a chance, that’s just being a hater in my book.
