Popular Idol-Turned-Actor Cast In New BL (Boys’ Love) K-Drama, Sparking Heated Reactions
Former WANNA ONE member Yoon Ji Sung, now turned actor, is taking on a bold new role in the upcoming BL K-Drama Thundercloud Rainstorm, but fans have not quite welcomed the news.
Based on a well-loved web novel by author Chaesim, the story’s webtoon version earned an impressive 4.8 rating. With such a loyal fanbase behind it, expectations for the K-Drama adaptations are high! So it wasn’t surprising that hot reactions came fast when casting news dropped.
Yoon is set to play Lee Iljo, a struggling man with no job, savings, or clear direction in life. After years of no contact, Iljo runs into his cousin Seo Jeonghan at their uncle’s funeral. Out of sympathy, Jeonghan offers to let him move in with him.
But fans of the original web novel aren’t sold on the casting. Some feel Yoon doesn’t match the image of Iljo from the webtoon, especially since he’s been cast as the “bottom” character in the relationship.
Regardless, not everyone is against it. Some netizens are waiting to see the whole cast before making a final call.
