This article reveals plot details of a current movie or series.

If there were an award for the funniest and sweetest proposal in a K-Drama, then Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha deserves to win it!

Much to the disappointment of many fans, the final episode aired on October 17.

We can no longer follow the lives of our favorite couple, Du Sik (played by Kim Seon Ho) and Hye Jin (played by Shin Min Ah), but at least we were given a marriage proposal to remember!

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha veered away from tradition by having Hye Jin initiate the proposal. In her message, she recounted their “worst” first meeting and reflected on how it eventually led to where they are now—happy and very much in love.

Well, I was reminded of the day we first met. It was the worst. It probably wasn’t just me. You must’ve found me extremely peculiar too. A woman you just met asked you to find your shoe for her and lend her money. We butt heads all day. But the crashing waves of that day…brought us to this moment right here, just like how these shoes came back to me.

—  Hye Jin

She confessed to wanting to see their shoes next to each other every single day. Like the shoes, she does not want Du Sik to ever feel lonely.

I’d love it if our shoes were always side by side at the door together, so that neither would be lonely.

—  Hye Jin

Finally, she asked the big question. “Chief Hong, will you marry me?

Barely a second passed, however, when Du Sik shook his head and replied with, “No.

Naturally, Hye Jin couldn’t believe her ears! She did not expect to be rejected, clarifying, “Don’t you want to?

Du Sik stuttered over his words, groaning in frustration and messing up his hair.

When Hye Jin asked what was wrong, he grabbed the box beside him. There’s apparently no reason to be sad: Du Sik said “No” because he wanted to be the first to propose!

I was going to propose to you today too. I wanted to ask you first. I’ve been preparing it for ages. How could this…You beat me to it.

— Du Sik

The sentimental vibe made a comeback. Hye Jin assured him that it did not matter who popped the question first as she urged him to continue on with his plans.

Well, it doesn’t really matter who does it first. What matters is that we’re on the same page. Alright, then. You take the lead from here. I’ll hand over the baton. Consider this a relay race. You’re the last runner, so run towards that finish line. Go ahead. You got this. Fighting!

—  Hye Jin

After composing himself, Du Sik shared an equally touching message.

You said our first encounter was on the worst terms. Not for me though. I saw a woman on the beach that day. She sat there for a long time, but all I could see was sadness in her eyes. And I couldn’t get it out of my mind, so my eyes kept being drawn to her. But I never thought…that I’d fall in love with her.

— Du Sik

Du Sik opened the jewelry box in front of her, and instead of a stereotypical engagement ring, it was the expensive necklace that she had previously sold online even though she loved it.

I worked 637 hours to get you this necklace. Don’t you dare sell it online.

— Du Sik

Hye Jin swore to never sell it, and Du Sik ended his proposal by saying, “Two pairs of shoes by the door, two toothbrushes in the bathroom, and two aprons in the kitchen. Everything will be in pairs. In a house where we keep those, will you enjoy today, tomorrow, and all your time with me?”

They ended with a sweet, “I love you”

…and then shared a sweet kiss by the beach.

One thing’s for sure: they’re definitely a couple to remember!
