Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi To Perform At Prestigious “TIME Magazine” Global Leadership Conference

Once again, Red Velvet is the top pick for prestigious diplomatic events.

Prestigious magazine TIME has announced that Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi will be performing at TIME 100 Talks global leadership conference alongside powerful politicians and influencers from the United Nations, Australia, and more.

TIME 100 Talks is an online conference series held by New York City’s renowned TIME magazine. Launched in April 2020, the virtual conferences bring together high-ranking individuals from all areas of society to discuss the world’s problems and necessary solutions.

Next week’s TIME 100 Talks episode will focus on global leadership. Together, U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Michelle Yeoh, former Australian Prime Minister Julia Guillard, and African Leadership Group CEO Fred Swaniker will discuss how influential people are “working to create meaningful change” across the globe.

But for K-Pop fans, the biggest stars of the show will be none other than Red Velvet’s first subunit, Irene & Seulgi. According to TIME, the unit group will be giving a special performance during the concert.

The performance is sure to be one Red Velvet’s most esteemed to date. Of course, it’s not the first time they’ve been chosen to guest-star at a distinguished, diplomatic event. They were also the only K-Pop group to perform for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at Spring is Coming in Pyongyang, a 2018 peace concert aimed at thawing the relations between North and South Korea.

Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi will follow in the footsteps of MONSTA X, who previously performed at the TIME 100 Talks: Finding Hope conference where world leaders discussed how to build back the economy after the COVID-19 pandemic.

MONSTA X performed two songs—”Flow” and “Someone’s Someone”—alongside providing their own message of hope regarding the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

As U.N. ambassadors for sustainable Goal 16 we stand for peace and justice. As such we have supported Black Lives Matter activism, and we believe that it’s time to acknowledge the issue and fix it.

The next online conference will convene at 6:00 PM Korean Standard Time on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, with Red Velvet’s subunit expected to perform via video link from Seoul. To listen to the talk and watch Irene and Seulgi’s performance, sign up via TIME’s official registration page.
