“Rolling Stone” names CL as one of the 10 must-know artists of August 2015 in the U.S.
Famous magazine Rolling Stone has listed YG Entertainment artist and 2NE1‘s CL as one of the ten must-know artists of August 2015.
CL is set to make her debut in the United States as a soloist with an EP through record label Mad Decent in the coming months. However, in the time leading up to her official solo debut, the idol has been earning love from both her existing and new fans through her unofficial promotions in the United States.
Recently, the music video for CL’s collaboration track with Diplo, OG Maco, and RiFF RAFF titled “Doctor Pepper” was released in the United States. Additionally, on August 9th, CL performed at the Mad Decent Block Party in New York. Through these events, CL garnered attention from famous magazine Rolling Stone.
The track and her upcoming solo debut in the United States earned her a spot on Rolling Stone‘s list titled “10 New Artists You Need To Know: August 2015.”
CL told Rolling Stone, “I don’t actually like calling myself a rapper. I’m more a performer. I don’t like to box myself into anything, because I also sing and I love to dance; I do everything.”
Additionally, she mentioned that she does not want to hold the responsibility as an artist that represents Asia in general. Rather, she noted that she “would love to represent Asian girls and be an example or an idol for girls [in the U.S.] That is my dream, but I don’t want that to be my main goal. I just want to do something I love, and music comes first for me.
Congratulations to CL for making the list! Stay tuned for more updates on her solo debut in the United States!
