Rookie Stars STAYC Revealed Their Real First Impressions Of Each Other
In a new interview, star rookie girl group STAYC shared their real first impressions of each other when they all met at High Up Entertainment.
STAYC’s lead vocalist Isa joined the company back in March 2018. She was asked to share her first impression of leader Sumin, but it seems the whole group made a pretty big impression on her.
Isa shared that she was “so surprised that they are so beautiful, and thought they are born to become celebrities“.
Sumin trained for over five years before debuting, but she didn’t join High Up Entertainment until 2018. One day in 2019, she was heading to the company office after school when she spotted vocalist Seeun.
Sumin was so shocked by Seeun’s beauty, she went straight to one of the staff members to tell them “I saw a really pretty girl“. A few days later, Seeun joined the company, and Sumin revealed she still couldn’t help but think, “She’s too pretty“.
When Seeun met maknae and rapper J after joining the company in 2019, she says her first thought was that J “looks like an actress“.
Seeun is actually an actress herself, appearing on dramas like Circle and The Guardians before joining STAYC. So, it’s no surprise that she compared J’s looks to her pretty fellow actors.
J is 168cm tall, so when she met 158cm-tall main vocalist Sieun (who joined the company in 2019), she noted that Sieun was “not that tall”. But, despite that, J says she thought Sieun “had an aura like an artist“, telling herself, “Whoa… she already feels like a celebrity“.
Sieun is the daughter of a formerly popular Korean singer, Park Namjung, so perhaps she was born with the aura of a star.
Since lead vocalist Yoon has been attracting attention for her visuals since debut, you may think she was glamorous as a trainee. However, Sieun says her first impression of Yoon was that “she didn’t even dress up, with her glasses and hair tied up“.
Of course, looks weren’t important to Sieun—as a naturally shy person, what struck her more was how Yoon struck up conversation with her. Sieun says that Yoon whispered, “Ah I saw you on TV and I was a fan of yours” in the practice room one day.
And Yoon had a similar impression of Isa, revealing that “she talked to [Yoon] a lot“, asking her a lot of questions and soon as she joined.
That’s when Yoon was struck by how motherly Isa is. According to the lead vocalist, Isa “takes really good care” of the group, and “she’s such a sweetheart“.
