Scooter Braun Steps Down From HYBE CEO Position — Why Fans Shouldn’t Celebrate

He served as CEO since 2021.

Since the protests in support of Palestine initially gained momentum in October 2023, K-Pop fans have tried to include activism in their stanning. As a result, calls for boycotts against companies that have worked with Zionist creators or organizations have been encouraged.

ENHYPEN Lose Thousands Of Followers Amid Active Boycott

HYBE has often been called out for this on multiple occasions, with calls for HYBE America CEO Scooter Braun to step down due to his activity online showing support for Zionism and other offensive comments.

Recently, however, it was reported that Braun would no longer serve as the CEO for HYBE America. Several international media outlets reported that Braun would step down from the position, which he has held since 2021.

This has been celebrated by many online, who do not approve of Braun’s continued involvement with HYBE’s groups.

However, Braun will still continue to work at HYBE, serving as director of the board and senior advisor to HYBE chairman and CEO Bang Si Hyuk, in addition to being the second individual largest shareholder in the company. Bang even commented on the change, praising and looking forward to continued collaborative efforts with Braun in the future.

His contributions have been vital in establishing our ambitious presence in the U.S. market. I am deeply grateful for his leadership, his astute instincts and his unwavering passion for artists. We wish him immense success in his exciting next chapter and look forward to continuing our partnership in executing HYBE’s global vision.

— Bang Si Hyuk

For those celebrating his removal, this still means he will benefit from future releases, as well as play a role in group’s future activities.

Some have already taken note of this and continue to pressure HYBE against platforming Zionists.
