SEVENTEEN Becomes The First K-Pop Group To Achieve A Massive Yearly Sales Record

The year isn’t even over yet!

2023 has been a huge year for K-Pop album sales. Numerous artists have broken their own past sales records, as well as K-Pop sales records as a whole, as the music genre has become more popular worldwide.

Of course, there has been some controversy over whether these sales numbers are “organic” due to the high number of photocards that some albums have, which encourage fans to buy multiple albums. However, it’s likely that even without the drive to collect photocards, album sales would still be going up for many K-Pop artists, especially those that have seen a rise in popularity in recent times such as SEVENTEEN.

SEVENTEEN has already made sales records this year with their FML album, breaking the past record for first-day sales for an album (with 3,998,373 copies sold the first day). It’s also now the best-selling K-Pop album ever, with over 6.23 million copies sold at this time.

And now, the boy group has reached yet another record that no other K-Pop artist has accomplished!

SEVENTEEN has become the first K-Pop artist to sell over 10 million albums in a single year.

They accomplished this with multiple methods. Before FML was even released, SEVENTEEN sold a million albums from past releases, which is an accomplishment all on its own. Then FML surpassed six million sales, after which Pledis Entertainment reprinted some of their old albums to put back on the market. Eager fans went on to purchase at least three million of these reprinted albums to reach the 10 million albums sold mark.

Carats are extremely proud of what SEVENTEEN has accomplished!

The year isn’t even over yet, and SEVENTEEN is set to release another album before 2023 is up, so it will be interesting to see just how high their annual album sales number will climb.
