SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu Confesses He Didn’t Want To Do A Unit Group

He thought he was going solo.

Recently, SEVENTEEN’s Mingyu and S.Coups appeared on a YouTube channel and discussed their unit’s first mini album, HYPE VIBES.

In the episode, the members talked candidly about their unit preparation process. When asked when they started preparing for it, they replied, “I think we started around January or February.”

They also expressed how much fun they had preparing for the album, raising fans’ anticipation.

Mingyu also shared their working style.

We’d send them songs and say, ‘What do you think? Isn’t it good?’ and then keep going without listening to their responses. Musically, we’re a great fit. We also have similar tastes in SEVENTEEN songs.

Hearing this, Jang Doyeon replied, “Then it must’ve been a natural process for the two of you to form a unit.”

However, S.Coups revealed otherwise.

At first, Mingyu wasn’t too keen on doing it with me. He said he wanted to do it alone.

Mingyu confessed, “I wanted to do it solo. I thought it was finally time to show off what I’ve got. So, I played the music I was making for me to S.Coups and asked, ‘It’s good, right?’ and that’s how we made the album.”

Meanwhile, the unit’s first mini album is set to be released on September 29.
