Previously, it was reported that SF9‘s Inseong had changed his stage name to Junghoon.

On April 1, 2024, it was announced by FNC Entertainment via the group’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. It stated that the idol would go by the new name starting April 8.

Hello. This is FNC Entertainment. We are going to make an announcement about SF9 Inseong’s future activities. From 2024 onwards, our artist SF9 Inseong’s stage name will be changed to Junghoon.

We took into consideration the effectiveness and convenience of his performances and music releases, as well as other album promotions, in our deep discussions that began at the start of the year, coming to this decision that we now inform you of. From next week, the week beginning April 8, he will be proceeding using this stage name. We plan on changing his name amongst other countries as well.

We ask for your interest and support for SF9’s Junghoon.

Many wished the idol formerly known as Inseong the best with his name stage. Even Mnet’s MPD sent well wishes, which he responded to.

Inseong also shared a post via fan cafe, claiming to be now known as Junghoon, along with a video of his voice and links to alleged official YouTube and Twitter (X) accounts.

Yet, the links lead to a recent post of his made via SF9’s account and the group’s “BIBORA” suit dance. This is when fans realized it was all just an April Fools’ Day joke! Likewise, the video included him saying, “Until now, thank you for joining the April Fool’s joke. SF9’s Inseong forever. Bye.”

Inseong also quote-tweeted the original announcement, revealing the truth. He is now the idol formerly known as Junghoon. He thanked fans for playing along. It wasn’t even a full day before he confirmed it was all a prank!

The first link was a compilation of SF9’s title track performances on M COUNTDOWN. It was uploaded by Mnet two years ago.

The second link was a video of Inseong and Hwiyoung dancing to Kim Jong Kook‘s “Loveable (Sarang Surowo).”

Netizens were shocked to realize the name change was just an elaborate prank, as he really pulled out his agency’s official template and shared it via the group’s official account.

Yet, some fans knew better than to trust Inseong!
