SHINee Jonghyun’s Family Created A Foundation For Aspiring Young Artists
SM Entertainment previously announced that the profits of SHINee’s Jonghyun’s album “Poet | Artist”, which was released posthumously, would go to a foundation created by his family. The foundation, which was named “Shiny Foundation” after the title song of the album, was officially established on September 6th.
On the same day, Esquire Korea revealed through an SNS post an interview with Jonghyun’s mother, Lee Eun Kyung, as well as more information about the foundation.
“In my hurting eyes, I can still see many hurting young people.” Chairman Lee Eun Kyung of “Shiny Foundation” conveyed her words with difficulty. Chairman Lee Eun Kyung is the mother of the late Jonghyun, who left this world on December 18, 2017. Shiny Foundation is a small foundation created by Jonghyun’s bereaved family. On September 6th, a ceremony was held in celebration of the establishment of Shiny Foundation in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul. It is a foundation created by a mother who lost her son who she thought would continue to shine like the name “SHINee” to support young and aspiring artists who are on the same path that her son was on. “Until now, when I go somewhere and hear music with my son’s voice playing, I am deeply hurt. However, I am always thankful that there are still people who love my son’s music even though he is no longer with us.” Jonghyun has left this world, but his music still remains. We still remember the forever-shining SHINee’s Jonghyun.
According to Esquire Korea, the foundation will aid aspiring artists who do not have management agencies and will establish a psychological counseling center for young artists who may be going through difficult times during their activities. It will also work with art high schools to run a scholarship program and hold yearly arts festivals in December in Jonghyun’s honor.
Jonghyun’s mother has taken on the role as chairman of the foundation, which will be funded by the royalties from Jonghyun’s music.
Fans are touched by what Jonghyun’s mother is trying to accomplish with this foundation and have shown their support for the cause.
