Regarding her casting in Squid Game 2, Jo Yuri talked about how she felt when she found out she was cast in the series.

I auditioned for a long time for this production. When I received confirmation that I was cast, I was so happy. I don’t remember what exactly happened because my sudden excitement level went up and it was like that moment was erased from my mind. It felt like a dream. I was that happy.

The host Kim Shin Young said she felt something similar when she was cast in the movie Decision To Leave. At the time, she thought to herself, “Is this a dream?” and said that one has to experience the filming process and attend the VIP premiere to really feel the reality of it.

Jo Yuri also has a lot of experience auditioning in her music career. She auditioned for the Mnet audition programs Idol School and Produce 48, which allowed her to debut as a member of IZ*ONE. Jo Yuri shared that she is quite comfortable with auditions now.

I get a bit nervous before going into auditions, but once I step on stage or go in, I feel very relaxed.

It was perhaps her comfort with auditioning that earned her a spot on the cast list for Squid Game 2.
