SM Entertainment Idol Opens Up About Feeling Like His Career Is Over
An SM Entertainment idol revealed that he had difficulty performing, leading him to experience mental health issues and think that his career is over.
On the 27th, a video titled “Raise your hand if you know all the sites above?” was uploaded on Super Junior Kim Heechul’s YouTube channel.
Kim Heechul opened up, saying, “I couldn’t perform on stage due to personal reasons. While making a comeback after a long time, I tried hard to improve myself, but being alone on stage was very tough.” In 2006, Kim Heechul suffered injuries requiring 12 weeks of treatment after a traffic accident. He underwent major surgery to insert seven metal rods due to fractures in his thigh and ankle and was later diagnosed with level 4 physical disability.
Kim Heechul said, “During the ‘Devil’ promotions, I was diagnosed with poor physical condition, and my mental health deteriorated. The hospital said my leg was weak and my body was leaning, which made me feel discouraged. As a dance singer, I felt like my career was over.”
He added, “During the ‘Black Suit’ promotions, I realized I had become cowardly. Knowing I was in pain, my heart would pound whenever I went on stage, and after that, I barely performed on stage. Even during rehearsals, I couldn’t stand alone on stage. I was even planning to quit broadcasting, but the company stopped me.“
